Fiji

On the way home from work a couple days ago, I drank one of the best bottled waters on the market and decided to write a post on the islands it comes from. Fiji, located Northeast of New Zealand (remember that post? If you don’t, you should go look), is one of the most developed economies in the Pacific islands. Once a British colony, the 333-island nation gained its independence in 1970. Let’s look at some attractions to check out in Fiji, shall we?

The most popular spots of Fiji are Nadi and Denarau on Viti Levu Island. In Nadi, you can head down a narrow dirt road where you will find the “Sabeto Hot Springs,” which locals call it the Sabeto Mud Baths. When you arrive, you won’t be able to ignore the smell of surfur (which smells like rotten eggs if you remember learning that in science class) but you’ll run into an experience of a lifetime. With just a small entry fee, you can pick between three mud pools: cool, warm, and hot. Don’t forget to bring a camera because you will regret it if you don’t get a picture of yourself or your friends absolutely covered in mud and looking like you’re straight out a jungle action film. This unique adventure is not to be ignored. After you’ve cleaned off the mud, you can head over to the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club for some fun and recreation in the golf course or tennis court.

If you’re out shopping in Fiji, you should most definitely look for the most unique treasure sought by tourists from all over the world: J. Hunter Pearls. These pearls are unique for their untraditional color and known for their purity. They were named after Justin Hunter, a native marine biologist who actively protects the marine environment in Fiji. You can find these on Main Street in Savusavu Town, which is on Vanua Levu Island.

If you want to be the ultimate tourist while visiting Fiji, you can also check out the obvious things to do, such as scuba diving, snorkeling, and fishing. Thanks to the amazing tropical climate, Fiji has some of the best soft coral reefs in the world. Traveling to Fiji is extremely easy: you can go there with a cruise line or get some great deals on vacation packages. Fiji is an absolutely beautiful place to relax and forget about life for a while. So next time you grab one of those Fiji water bottles, think of how awesome it would be to visit!
