Taipei, Taiwan

Taipei, Taiwan is one of the most fascinating places in the world. Founded in the early 18th century, it has become one of the main trading centers of Asia. The Taipei metropolitan area is home to almost 7 million people, who are all cramped into 105 square miles. This city embraces the intertwining of the traditional architecture with a fast-growing economy. It would be a truly an exciting place to visit!

Taipei’s pride is Taipei101, which was claimed as the world’s tallest building until the opening of Burj Khalifa (remember Dubai?). The building has won multiple international awards for its innovations and was built specifically to withstand typhoons and earthquakes. It cost about 1.76 billion dollars to build!

The building’s beautiful, but I’m finally getting to the most unique place in Taipei, at least to me. Get ready to trigger your appetite…or lose it: your choice.

Modern Toilet in Taipei is a restaurant that beats all other places when it comes to being weird. The eatery was inspired by a manga, “Dr. Slump on the Toilet,” and has been a raging success since its opening.

Everything in Modern Toilet is shaped like things you would find in a bathroom. The seats are shaped like toilets, tables like sinks, drink cups like urinals, even the food bowls are shaped like toilets. Their all-time best selling product since its opening is a pig pile of chocolate soft-serve in a container shaped like a squat toilet…you can only imagine what it looks like. While everything may look unappetizing, Modern Toilet is one of the most popular restaurants in the city for its food! With a huge menu and delicious foods, residents of Taipei are going crazy to sit on toilets to eat out of toilets.

I never said Modern Toilet was an amazing place to visit on your honeymoon…but is it unique? Oh I think so.
